Dr. Shelton completed his DDS degree at Howard University in Washington DC and completed his orthodontics degree at Columbia University in New York City. He did his general practice residency at Veterans Hospital in East Orange, NJ.
A native of West Virginia, Dr. Shelton has lived in the New York City area since 1972. He is currently a member of the New York Academy of Orthodontics, Greater New York Dental Society, American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, and Diplomate American Board of Orthodontics and is currently serving as board member of the Hostos College Hygiene Department. He also served as President of Intercounty Orthodontic Coverage Group.
When asked about his practice, Dr. Shelton said, "We use the gentlest miniaturized or invisible appliances, light pressure techniques for comfortable results. We improve smiles without compromising appearance and comfort during the process."
Dr. Shelton and his wife Kathleen have a son, Clifford, and a daughter, Leslie. In his free time he is a jazz recording artist and is signed with Summit Records. He is also involved with the NAACP, Jazz Vespers at various churches, and volunteers for public radio, Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and other various philanthropic organizations.
Katherine Park, DMD
Dr. Park graduated from NYU with a Bachelor of Arts with a major in history. She earned her dental degree from Harvard School of Dental Medicine where she graduated cum laude. Upon graduation, she started her orthodontic training at Montefiore Medical Center. She was named Chief Resident of her class and has been practicing in her own office on Park Avenue in Murray Hill.
She has extensive experience treating both adults and children with the latest innovations in orthodontics. She is experienced in dentofacial orthopedics to prevent more serious orthodontic problems in children. She is also able to treat complex adult cases that require mulitdisciplinary coordination. She values good communication and education of the patient so they can be a full participant in their own treatment.
Dr. Park is a native New Yorker and grew up in Queens. She lives in Manhattan with her husband and two children. As the mother of two small children, she enjoys sleeping when she can and dancing around to Grover with her daughter. She is an avid reader, especially science fiction and a proud Trekkie.
